ESBC Annual Dinner 12th January 2007

On the first Friday of term the Emanuel School Boat Club held their annual dinner, a black tie occasion held at the London Rowing Club.

It was very well attended with 85 current sixth form boys and girls, former members of the club, coaches and staff.

Amongst the guests was the current Chairman of the Amateur Rowing Association, Di Ellis. The Old Emanuel oarsmen attending included several world champions and internationals.

The guest of honour was Clint Evans, himself a former captain of the club and winner, in 2006, of the Transatlantic Rowing Challenge. He spoke most interestingly and entertainingly about the race, its highs and lows, and some things we probably wished  he hadn't told us about!

Luke Dillon as the current Captain of ESBC also spoke wittily about his experiences as one of the current generation of Emanuel rowers, though the hardships he described could not match those of his predecessor.
