Patrick Loobey OE Local Historian Dies

I was saddened to hear of the death of Patrick Loobey recently, after a short illness.

I first met Patrick at an London Open House event a few years ago at the school. Emanuel was open to the public for the first time and Patrick came to visit for the first time in some years.

He published many books, often postcard pictorials, on Wandsworth and Battersea and was a widely known, and respected, expert on the history of the local area.

Before he retired, he was the Archivist for Wandsworth Libraries for many years and actively involved in the Wandsworth Society.

A number of Patrick's books are on display in the School Archive.
