School archive looking for rare copies of Portcullis and OEA newsletters The school archive is now permanently housed on the specially built mezzanine floor of the new library. This has gathered together memorabilia from around the school and is going from strength to strength, including the development of a very efficient database to retrieve information. There is a large display of school archives by Tony Jones, senior school librarian and archivist, celebrating 125 years since Emanuel’s move to Wandsworth from Westminster. Tony is keen on gathering additional archival material. He has already received many gifts from OEs including back numbers of the Portcullis magazine, school photographs, individual school reports and books by published OEs. If you have Emanuel items that you would like to show Tony, or are interested in giving to the school, Tony would be most interested to talk to you. (direct line 020 8875 6959). Tony is looking for the following specific Portcullis magazines which are very rare: Number76 (WW1) and WW2 generally but in particular numbers 136 & 137 (1939) 145 & 146(1942). Portcullis’ published during the 1970s and early 1980s are generally in short supply. Early editions of the OEA newsletter up to and including Number 81 would also be appreciated. So if you have any of these copies lurking round your house looking for a new home think of our archive as a safe haven! Additionally Tony has been unearthing many school team photos from all decades of the last century many sadly un-named, so if you would like to help to identify school photos do come to the library and join the identification hunt.
