The Library Project The new library project is underway and is due for completion in 2007 when the whole library will move to the former dining room area in the centre of the school which will have been totally transformed. This exciting development will include the traditional library services as well as a resource centre, exhibition space and a special mezzanine for the expanding school archive. If you are able to come to Dacre Day on 1st July you will be able to see the plans. Our current library has 20,000 books and the new library has space for 30,000 tomes and, although the school is accelerating the investment for the new library beyond the normal school budget, there still remains an opportunity for additional gifts to the school library from OEs, parents and friends of Emanuel School. If you would like to contribute to additional books for the library • £15 will purchase a standard non fiction hardback • £30 will purchase a science textbook e.g. Understanding Biology. • £50 will purchase a full two volume, new edition, Harrap’s dictionary. • £100 will purchase an Oxford reference guide e.g. Oxford Directory of the Christian Church. Each gift will be commemorated with an inscribed book plate. Your gift will be further enhanced if you complete a gift aid form. Emanuel School Gift Aid form Earlier this year we had a ‘new for old books’ promotion after we found surplus copies of various histories of the school written during the last century in a dusty cupboard under the stairs. It was very successful with generous gifts from a number of OEs. As a result Tony Jones our librarian, is delighted to be able to purchase Groves Music Directory which retails at £1400. The music department is delighted and thank all the OE contributors. There are still some copies available which you can either obtain from me, or on Dacre Day Please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Fisher telephone 020 8875 6978 srf@emanuel.org.uk if you require any further information. |
